What is Granite?

Granite is one of the most durable architectural building stones. It is an igneous rock - meaning it is formed when molten laval cools and becomes solid. Its increasing popularity is a testament to its beauty, versatility and consistency. Widely used in commercial and residential applications, granite is ideal for tile floors, walls and countertops, as well as exterior applications. It is quarried worldwide, with the most exotic colors coming from Brazil, India, Finland, North America, China and Southern Africa. New quarries are discovered each year further enhancing color choices and keeping prices in check.

Marble or Granite?

When picking out a stone you must first decide whether you want marble or granite. Granite is ideal for kitchens and high traffic areas because it is harder than stone. Marble, though elegant and aesthetically pleasing, is much more vulnerable
to damage. It is, however, an excellent
choice for vanities, tables, and fireplace surrounds.

Choosing a Color:

While choosing a color for your home, it is important to remember that every slab is different in color, depth and natural flaws. A stone that has more depth and color to it (such as Tropical Brown or Santa Cecilia) camouflages fingerprints, dust and spills much better than a flat color like Absolute Black.
